Heibu, meaning "Han Elder," is the "youngest" elder in the Cuotaiji tradition, yet he has endured 1,000 years of time. Together with the Yi and Miao elders, he journeyed through the dawn of civilization, from ignorance to enlightenment, creating from nothingness and wandering through the wilderness. Alongside Abumo, Adam, and Mahongmo, he participates in the "Sweeping the Fire Star" ritual to drive away disasters, and together they pray for a bountiful harvest and good fortune in the coming year. He shares a black-and-white patterned face with the Yi elder and a black beard with the Miao elder. Though their lip designs distinguish them, regardless of facial differences, who can say that these Yi, Miao, and Han brothers, who co-founded the history and culture of the villagers, are not true brothers bound by blood?
